Feel Awesome Naked

Before anyone gets the wrong idea.... this was a coffee mug I bought at my gym in California a couple years ago.  It's Friday which made me think of date night and all the things that go along with that.

Feel Awesome Naked is the ultimate fitness goal I think.  But not just because of how you physically look..... it's also about how your confidence shines.  Is it possible to be heavier than you want to be and feel awesome without clothes?

Absolutely!  Add in some workouts, some clean eating and whammo presto.... your mind knows your're doing the good things needed to get you closer to your goal. Confidence and self esteem goes up.

Relentless Barking Dogs

People are generally either dog people or cat people.  I'm definitely a cat person.... maybe I connect with their independence.... maybe I long to nap more often.

As I'm sitting at my home office (with the windows closed by the way), I can distinctly hear the neighbors dogs making a massive racket.  This stirs memories of last summer and fall when these same dogs would bark like crazy at the pre-crack of dawn, at lunch, at 11 pm.  There are just no boundaries to when these dogs make noise.  Their owner occasionally hollers at them to pipe down.... 

......yet they continue.  Relentlessly.

Then it dawned me.  Shouldn't we be as relentless as these dogs in making noise about what we believe in?  Right now 2/3rds of our country is overweight or obese.  Not just a few pounds to lose, but ten's to hundreds of pounds overweight.  Wouldn't it be easier to just worry about ourselves as the rest of our friends and family (possibly) get bigger and bigger?  

But what if we made a little more noise?  Cared a little more?  Offered a little more support and encouragement to them?  

Let this be your call to action.... make some noise about what you believe in today.   Be relentless about your passion, whatever it is.  Be caring and joyful about taking care of yourself; even more, show the people you love how to create that joy for themselves too.  Bark louder.

Snow White and the thick belly

One week ago, snow was abundant on the ground and I told the kids "this is it.... the last snow day of the season".  As a family we headed to the park to make an enormous snow-girl with swim suit.  Very cute as we looked forward to the summer pool season.  Looking at the picture today I thought..... that's kind of how I feel and a little how I look.  Thick in the middle and bottom and super white thanks to winter in North Dakota.

BUT, true to yesterdays post, it's TGITuesday.  Started with a chocolate Shakeology shake and hit a BODYSTEP workout at lunch hour.  Feeling great and know that the extra body fat covering my think belly will melt away just as the snow has.

Snow White will be a distant memory in the weeks to come as the color comes back and the results start replacing this mental image.

What does TGIF mean?

TGIF.... what does it really mean?  Thank God it's Friday?  This Girl is Fabulous? Today God is First?  My 9 year old daughter says it means Today's Gift is Forever.  I like that one.  In fact everyday is a gift.  Today felt more like an expired gift card than a gift until my friend Sarah came over.  She let's me be me with no pretenses or needing to impress her or worrying about saying the right thing.  Sarah is just Sarah and is truly a gift.

So my TGIF today is all of the above.

What will tomorrow look like?  Pretty good I imagine because tomorrow is going to be TGITuesday.  If you're reading this, make your Tuesday a gift.  Wrap it up pretty and put a big bow on it.  My wrapping is going to be clean eating starting with a chocolate Shakeology shake:  My bow will be the BODYSTEP workout and knee rehab exercises that await me in my studio.
